Obituary for Ann Elizabeth Hamilton | Johnson Funeral Home

(Please read the lovely obituary of our friend Ann that was written by her daughter Kris.  It contains so much of her life that we never knew.)

Ann was a long-standing member of the Grand Strand Genealogy Club.  

Her contributions to the club were many……

We were regularly greeted by Ann’s lovely, welcoming smile at the monthly meetings where she was the membership coordinator for many years.  Ann kept meticulous records and made sure that her successor was provided with the tools to keep membership role running smoothly. Ann knew all the members and chatted with us as we checked in.  Meeting  visitors were put at ease and welcomed.  Ann’s contributions extended beyond the membership coordinator role as she also volunteered to work worked with Dennis Fitzgerald and Judy Phillips to update the club bylaws. 

The Genie Bytes newsletter publication was started in 2020.  Bonnie Kishpaugh is the editor and Ann became her assistant editor in April 2021.  The two had a wonderful working relationship.  Even through her illness, Ann continued to “polish” the issues for Bonnie.  Given Ann’s background  in English her editing ability skills were put to good use.

We are all anxiously awaiting Ann’s last final endeavor.  On November 8, 2025 the club presentation will be “Stories in Military Letters”.   Ann had a vision that started with her own father’s military service.  His story was the start of a marvelous idea.  She  presented her idea at a meeting, looking for club members who had letters from ancestors who were in any wars.  The power point presentation and coordinating narrative were all her idea…..collaborating with Bob Dahlin for technical support.  This was truly a labor of love for Ann.  Thanks so much to her family for helping Ann to finish her dream.  She will be watching from Heaven on November 8th …. I am certain.

We are all blessed to have had Ann with us.
