Early morning bright ideas...

Each of us has a favorite time of day. For me it is first thing in the morning. I usually wake up at 4:30 or 5am. My best thoughts and ideas come at that time. Yesterday I had a thought. We all have stories about our quest for our ancestors. What if I started interviewing club members on the phone...recording the call with permission and posting the transcription in the blog weekly? How would that work? Of course I asked AI for guidance. To test my plan without club membership....why not start with interviewing my 93 year old cousin? I asked AI to craft a letter to my cousin.

Here it is:

Hi Cousin....

I hope you’re doing well!

I’ve been doing quite a bit of work lately with our genealogy club website, and it made me realize just how much I treasure the stories you have about our family. I’ve been thinking a lot about Grandfather and Aunt Nellie lately, and I realized I don't want those memories to ever be lost.

I have a bit of a "favor" to ask—I’m testing out a new project for my club where I record family stories to preserve them for the future. Would you be open to me giving you a call sometime this week to chat for about 15 or 20 minutes?

I’d love to record our conversation (with your permission, of course!) just so I can capture your memories of Grandfather and Aunt Nellie accurately. I’m planning to turn the recording into a written story for our genealogy website to show the board how we can keep our history alive.

Let me know if there is a day or time that works best for you. I’m so looking forward to hearing your voice and catching up!

Love

Pat

I got back a huge long email detailing all the problems she's been having. The response was in and of itself a delight. But she said check back next week. I will ...and hopefully that can be my first in a new direction for this blog. I have always loved a great story. How about you?
