Garbage in garbage out...

Did you ever hear that saying? In the case of AI assisting in genealogy it holds true. The key is in the accuracy of the prompts. Garbage prompts yield garbage results. I have been experimenting with pictures. Earlier this week I submitted a picture of my brothers as children. One brother passed as a child. I submitted the prompt request to age progress the photo to what they would look like as old men. I included a photo of my brother age 80. I was thrilled with the result. BUT that was because there is no way to disprove the result for the brother who passed as a child. What if I submitted a picture of my sister and I as children and requested age progression to old age? The result looked a lot like Betty White and nothing like me! That was chatgpt. Gemini produced a photo when I added a current picture of my sister and I....but the picture had us at the height we were as children...I looked an old midget.

Moral of story...results are interesting but not perfect. Be exact in your prompts.

Still helpful but not perfect.
