Confessions of a button pusher

This morning I read something that really hit home.

There are two types of learners:

  1. Those learn by reading every word in the manual.

  2. Those who learn just by pushing the buttons.

I definitely fall into the second group. But the button pushing, although fun, has not helped me achieve the learning goal.

Give me a button...even if it's marked "careful...may cause you to delete files"...I will push it every time. I have been pushing that download button for years!!

This may be the reason that any organized person would suffer physically if they saw my genealogy research.

Yesterday's presentation by Drew Smith was very informative. He showed us how to systematically organize our genealogy information. I sat there thinking of MY system....or lack thereof. Yes... I have

colored binders, hanging folders, binders, AND digital folders. I also have a bunch of notebooks with page after page of notes and ideas from about the last ten years.

I guess this is why the organized manual readers are giving lectures and why the button pushers are still looking for their greatgreatgrandmothers!!

There's always tomorrow!!!
