My Most Famous Find!!! Call for stories!

At our Genie Chat meeting, one of the group shared that she was related to Edgar Allan Poe!

I was consumed with jealousy!

I wracked my brain. Surely there must be someone famous in MY family tree!

Then I remembered my paternal grandmother, Anna Gertrude Carroll.

Years ago, I was searching for information about my dad's mother when I found her family listed in a Baltimore census record. At the time, we lived in Maryland. It was a beautiful day, so I hopped in the car and drove to Emory Street in downtown Baltimore.

I parked on Emory Street and walked to the address.

My jaw dropped.

My grandmother's house was right next door to Babe Ruth's house. In fact, it was actually part of the Babe Ruth Museum!

I walked up to the door and explained excitedly to the docent that my grandmother's house was part of the museum.

“Of course,” she said.

“That will be $10.”

And that's the rest of my story!
